Awarded Land Use Projects

NCTCOG, via the Regional Transportation Council (RTC), has awarded $1 Million for planning studies in each Sustainable Development Call for Projects through the 2001, 2006, and 2010 Sustainable Development Funding Program. The purpose of the program is to promote sustainable growth and development by planning for the implementation of land use and transportation integration, smart growth, and other sustainable development principles.

Studies range from infrastructure analysis, transit-oriented development station area planning, and market analysis, to urban design guidelines and planning for complete streets.  For information regarding RFP/RFQ notices for current projects please visit the NCTCOG Transportation Procurement Website.

West Dallas Signature Point Project
The study focused on public infrastructure needs in the West Dallas area, following a previous plan that developed the preliminary vision for the study area. This study yielded an implementation plan for infrastructure improvements for streets, water, wastewater, and stormwater.

Garland Road Vision Study Opportunities for corridor beautification and context-sensitive design were among the implementation recommendations of the plan. The study reflected the needs and desires of both residential and retail stakeholders along Garland Road. Dallas Dallas Final Report
Ellis County Sustainable Subdivision Regulations There had been stormwater flooding in unincorporated areas of Ellis County. The goal of the study was to review ordinances and improve zoning and building requirements in the rural sections of Ellis County. N/A Ellis Final Report
Evans & Rosedale Area Housing Study and Design Guidelines This urban village plan identified 17 prototypical housing plans for the redevelopment of aging, historic housing in the Evans/ Rosedale area of Fort Worth. Fort Worth Tarrant Final Report
Hurst-Bellaire Sustainable Redevelopment Plan This plan analyzed potential redevelopment scenarios for the Bellaire Area focusing on an arts district, the Artisan Center Theatre, street fairs, public places, and improving the existing neighborhood park. Hurst Tarrant Final Report

Southern Dallas County Infrastructure Analysis An Infrastructure Analysis Report was created which provides a framework and implementation program to support growth of a high-quality, well-integrated Inland Port in Southern Dallas County to spur commercial, industrial, and residential development.
